Missing persons

Help find someone.

Readers file appeals for people missing after floods, landslides and earthquakes at home, and for family members lost touch with in the Gulf. An editor reads every one before it appears here. Nothing is published automatically.

These are appeals from the public, not police records. The Journal checks that each one is coherent, that any attached post is real and public, and that the contact is willing to be published — it cannot confirm that a person is missing. In an emergency, call the police first. To correct or withdraw a notice, write to missing@whitepeakjournal.com.

Emergency and rescue

Call these before you file anything. A newspaper appeal is what you do alongside a police report, never instead of one.

United Arab Emirates

For readers in the Emirates. A missing-person case here is a police matter and should go to the police first, not to a newspaper.

File an appeal

No account needed, and we do not ask who you are. What you write about the person and the contact you give are the only things that ever become public.

Step one

Who is missing?

Enough for a stranger to recognise them. Please leave out passport and citizenship numbers, bank details and medical history — none of it helps, and all of it is a risk.

Step two

A photograph, or a post we can check

One of the two is required. A photograph is re-saved on our servers, which removes the location your phone writes into the file. It stays unpublished until an editor approves the report.

Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or X. An editor opens the post before publishing, so a private one or a link to a comment cannot be used.

Step three

Who should people call?

These details are printed with the appeal. Give a number that can safely take calls from strangers at any hour.

Nothing appears on the site before an editor has read it.
