About
The White Peak Journal
Independent journalism from Kathmandu, published daily in Nepali and English.
Who we are
The White Peak Journal is an independent daily published from Kathmandu. We cover the business, policy and civic life of Nepal, and the lives of the Nepalis who work abroad and send their earnings home, for readers who want the reporting without the noise.
We publish in Nepali and English. Where a story exists in both languages, a reader sees it in the one they have chosen; where it does not, they see the original with a note.
Editorial standards
Every story carries a named byline and a timestamp in Nepal Time. Nothing appears under a house name.
Reporting is separated from opinion. Opinion pieces are labelled as such in the kicker above the headline and on every card that links to them.
We do not publish sponsored content in the news file. Any commercial arrangement is disclosed in the article itself, not in a footnote.
These standards apply to everything published here, including reader comments.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we correct it in the article and say what changed. Significant corrections carry the date of the change.
To report an error, write to corrections@whitepeakjournal.com with the headline and the specific claim in question.

Comments
Comments are open on most stories and are read by a person before they appear. We approve robust disagreement and decline personal abuse; the standard is whether the comment is worth another reader's time.
Comments an editor considers especially good are marked as a Journal Pick and pinned to the top of the thread.
