The clearest picture so far comes from Apple’s event announcement, supply-chain reporting, regulatory filings and specialist publications tracking the company’s upcoming hardware.

When is the iPhone 18 Pro Max expected to launch?

Apple’s official event page says its “Surprise and shine” special event will take place on September 9 at 10 a.m. PT. Apple has not named the products in advance, but MacRumors and other technology publications expect the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and Apple’s first foldable iPhone to be shown.

A retail release is expected later in September. The exact pre-order and on-sale dates have not been confirmed.

Expected iPhone 18 Pro Max price in the Apple Store and Nepal

Pricing is the biggest uncertainty this year. Apple launched the iPhone 17 Pro Max at $1,199 in the US for 256GB. Analysts cited by MacRumors and PhoneArena now expect higher component costs — especially memory, storage and the 2-nanometre processor — to push the iPhone 18 Pro Max higher.

Rumoured specifications: what could actually change?

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to remain a 6.9-inch flagship rather than grow in screen size. MacRumors reports that Apple is working with a more power-efficient LTPO+ OLED panel, while several leaks point to a smaller Dynamic Island. Reporting on the Dynamic Island is not unanimous, so that detail should still be treated cautiously.

The larger performance change is expected inside the phone. Apple is widely reported to be preparing an A20 Pro-class chip built on TSMC’s 2nm process, moving beyond the 3nm A19 Pro used in the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The new process is expected to improve both performance and efficiency.

Camera hardware could also be a major upgrade. Multiple reports say Apple has tested a variable-aperture main camera, which would allow the lens to physically control how much light reaches the sensor and offer more control over depth of field. Battery filings reported by MacRumors point to a bigger battery as well. The alleged iPhone 18 Pro Max cells are listed at about 5,391mAh for a physical-SIM configuration and 5,567mAh for a US eSIM configuration. Other reported changes include Apple’s next-generation C2 modem in at least some markets, a slightly thicker rear camera plateau and a more uniform finish across the aluminium body and rear glass.

Colour leaks have changed repeatedly as the launch approaches. The most recent report from MacRumors, based on SIM-card trays shared by longtime leaker Sonny Dickson, points to Dark Cherry, Sky Blue and Silver.

A separate leak published a day earlier suggested Dark Cherry, Sky Blue and Black instead, while older dummy units included four finishes. Dark Cherry is the most consistent rumour and appears likely to replace Cosmic Orange as the standout Pro colour, but Apple has not confirmed any of them.

For an iPhone 17 Pro Max owner, the biggest reasons to consider upgrading would likely be the 2nm chip, battery gains and camera changes, rather than a radical redesign. The overall shape is expected to remain close to the 17 Pro Max.
